Lee Friedlander (b. 1934) was the photographer that really made me turn toward photography versus drawing and painting in my art major. I really connected with his images; they felt familiar and accessible. His body of work is extensive and versatile. I like the way he looks at things. He is still working; making photographs, publishing books, and exhibiting his work around the country. Ian and I had the opportunity to see a huge Friedlander exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art back in 2008 and it was incredible.
